Runway vs. Reality: Dubai and Dallas

I apologize for the dereliction here at this blog, but I am packing yet again. How is it that we are already at the beginning of the second quarter of the year when I just barely survived Christmas? Anyway, I know I meant to post about France in this entry, but two Sundays have since passed and I am once again playing catch up.

So this was the Runway Vs. Reality collage from two Sundays ago, an optically vibrant b/w jacket and dress set from the 2015 resort Paris-Dubai collection.

I picked it out immediately from the runway photos, then saw it on Gwen Stefani on an episode of The Voice and thought I could maybe-perhaps-possibly-or-not pull it off. The jury’s still out in my book. The print is a departure from my typical Chanel looks, but I have always loved that easy cocoon shape for a jacket.

And then I realized that I already have a few such jackets in my closet back home, but particularly a leather one (from the 2014 season) that I wore to the store that day to pick up this set, a pic of which I've included.

Ah well, creature of habit I am.

Then just this past Sunday I posted the 2014 Prefall Paris-Dallas boiled wool skirt in the RVSR challenge on my IG feed.

The oatmeal color is super versatile, if challenging to keep clean, and a definite pick-me-up color for any gloomy winter day. Of course living here in the bipolar desert weather (warm days, cool nights), I match it with open-toe sandals …

I channel Imelda Marcos a lot at this blog, and this is no exception when it comes to this skirt. Oh no, I didn’t. Oh yes, I did: the maroon also came home with me.

But in my defense, this skirt, with the pretty scalloped edges and inverted pleat, is a classic silhouette that will outlive any fashion trend and therefore a solid investment.

Did I win my case?
