Exactly one year ago I published my first post at this blog, and it was a recap of the CHANEL Mobile Art exhibit in NYC.
If my life hadn’t worked out the way it has, often full of sartorial frivolity, I would have liked to have been a photojournalist covering stories from the front line. Richard Engel is the person I’d most like to be–jobwise. Just enough danger to keep it interesting; just enough service to leave a mark on the world. In this path I’m on, I know I won’t change the world around me, but I sure like to witness it.
Who knew in a span of a year I’ve been able to share a few of my days on the road, in crowds, in solitude, in color, in constant search of food–and very tall men chasing a ball around.
Over my shoulder you’ve seen the mundane, even when the mundane takes your breath away.
I’ve gotten to blog about my family–those I’ve known all my life…and the ones who have just made an entrance.
You’ve put up with my endless pining over animal byproducts that I can’t eat (what did I say earlier about frivolity?) and even voted for me for the blogging gig in Antarctica. I couldn’t round up the 10,000 votes to win, but I can’t wait to see when we’ll see my last continent here at this blog.
After all, this fashionista already has her hat picked out for the ice…
Here’s to another year of roaming!
